Best Place to Experience Scarborough Bluffs and Great Way to End Our Trip

点评：As the name implies, this is a great park to see one of Toronto's best natural wonders, the Scarborough Bluffs. The Scarborough Bluffs are a set of glacial moraine deposits that create a rise in the Toronto topography and then have been eroded by Lake Ontario to expose these beautiful cliffs which are sheer walls at the park. The Bluffs extend for about 9 miles of shoreline in the Scarborough neighborhood of greater Toronto, and they vary in height from 100 to 300 feet above the lake's surface. In the Scarborough neighborhood, there are many parks along the ridge where you can experience the views provided by the Bluffs, but there is only one with great access to the Bluffs below, a public beach, boat launch and easy car access. The answer is Bluffers Park. The best part is the park and even the parking were absolutely free to visit.
The Bluffs are a unique geologic feature for Lake Ontario that only occur here. Also interesting is the erosion of these bluffs is what created another Lake Ontario anomaly and that is Toronto Islands, the other great natural wonder of the city which we enjoyed. While the bluffs are the highlight of the park and something you simply must see, equally great is the access the park gives you to Lake Ontario. We greatly enjoyed the Toronto Islands and the access they provided to the Toronto Harbor, but there are very few spaces you actually get great access to the Lake.
We visited on a sunny day that was perfect for pictures and our last stop before driving to the airport to board a plane for home. However, this was the perfect way to end our Canadian adventure. We did visit early on a Saturday morning at 9:30 so we got a great parking space adjacent to the restrooms and changing facility. From there we walked the shoreline to two circles that provided amazing views of the lake and the bluffs. We enjoyed walking on the stone breakwater and taking in the scenery. It was interesting to think there must be days when this breakwater is needed, but for our visit, the lake was flat and glassy. There are even places where we were able to access the shoreline and feel the water of the lake. Again, it was the best way to end the trip in a beautiful natural setting. I highly recommend that you find sometime during your trip to Toronto to visit the park. You will be richly rewarded for your effort.
