点评:I secured two tickets after some years' trying and a friend and I visited on first Saturday of July 2024. The garden tour is unforgettable amongst all gardens I have visited in Europe and North America. Gardens naturalistic but intentionally designed (and playful in some parts), we were particularly awed by the attention to native plants in the designs. Coming from Boston and Frederick Law Olmsted territory, the integration of natural landscape and man-made structures was impressive.
Our tour was supposed to be only in French, I can speak French/Franglish, my friend no French, but our volunteer guide Pierre was fully fluent. Major plus was that he was a geologist and gave us a background of the Charlevoix area's pre-historic geology, such as the creation of the Laurentides/Laurentian mountains and the astrobleme 400 million years ago that created the Charlevoix area. I can't imagine the experience that other tours have with different volunteer guides.
The tour is about 2.5 hours, and some terrain was sloped and a little slippery in light rain, so a raincoat and good walking shoes are a good idea, a walking stick if needed.
Thank you to the Cabot family for allowing us into your special space.
