点评:Visited on 200th anniversary, so entrance was free, but normally it is a low price. The museum is spread over the ground and basement floors, with a whole mixture of artefacts, it takes about an hour to get around. There is also a small art exhibition to the left of the entrance. Just after the toilets, the cafe is split either side of the steps into the basement, where you start your visit. Strangely asking for afternoon tea confused the woman serving me, even though it shows on the menu and was given only a tiny amount of cream for 2 scones, which was replenished after going back to the till. It appears a lot of the castle is empty, would have liked to go up the tower! We had a walk around the lake at the bottom of the hill and visited the greenhouses that had quite a few ferns and flowers to view. Elsewhere a children’s playground by another cafe. Parking was free, with spaces above, at and below the castle.
