点评:Combined the visit to Laguna Tebenquiche with the Cejar/Ojos de Salar sites. They were interesting but Tebenquiche was amazing. It's more 'basic' than Cejar which meant no swimming (and no change houses built all around the lake to spoil the view) but there is a long, hot trail that takes you to lots of fascinating viewpoints around the lakeshore. What made it truly special to me (geologist) is that there are living, growing limestone mounds along the shoreline which are constructed and maintained by algal colonies - these little creatures pre-date the dinosaurs and are STILL living in a few spots today. I've been wanting to go to Shark Bay on the west coast of Australia to see the mounds there (the structures are called algal stromatolites) - I had no idea that I'd see them on a trip to Chile!! Oh, for non-geologists, there aren't as many flamingos in Tebenquiche as in some of the other Lagunas but the views (lake with mountains behind it) are super-photogenic!
