点评:Visiting Texas for a wedding near Austin and taking Amtrak from Chicago, we decided to leave the train in Temple just to visit this charming museum. It's by no means all inclusive of railroad history, but they do the local involvement justice and also throw in a room or two of other local history like Native American and the massive high school marching bands of the area.
Tickets are purchased in the small gift area. The museum is in the old Sante Fe depot, ovef 100 years old and in remarkable shape. There is large great hall area that we couldn't access this time because they were setting up for an event, but we could see it clearly through the doors. The rest of the displays are in old offices and there is even a place set up where you can train spot in comfort.
The outdoor area is beautifully landscaped with a family friendly park located at either end of the depot. There are rolling stock displays outside. This is a very active yard and all safety precautions have been taken, so by all means bring the kids. Tickets were very reasonably priced, ours being 3 dollars a piece.
