点评:We visited from Atlantic Canada, on a quiet Sunday morning in October which was ideal, giving us lots of opportunity to talk with knowledgeable, friendly staff and learn more about colonial life spanning three decades.
This museum really does the “living history” thing well. The building reproductions and picturesque grounds are immediately engaging but it was the well-trained, costumed staff who truly appeared interested in what they were doing that made the visit memorable. We were fortunate the director of interpretation was on site to answer our more complicated questions about the beehive oven. He also shared fascinating stories about local Indigenous and settler history that sparked curiosity and a deeper appreciation for this pivotal time in North American history.
If you are travelling with children be sure to add Fort Delaware to your must-see list. My husband's first reaction when he entered was: "I would have given anything to go to fort like this when I was a kid." Amateur photographers will love it, too!
