点评:From Bacolod City, we took a Ceres Bus (Southbound) to Brgy. Bulata in Cauayan, taking around 5 hours. Some buses have less stops but we missed them. We took the half-day tour (there is a full day one), it was off-season so it was only us during the tour. Boat (banca with outrigger) pick up was in front of our hotel, Amila Dive Beach Resort ( eco-friendly, german-owned, beautiful, clean, and good food with a pool) who coordinated our tour and it only took 15 minutes to go to the island. We had a short orientation about the island and due to the not so good weather, we only had time to do some easy trails along the mangrove, beaches, the bat cave, and snorkeling. The trails have rough limestone and some steep stairs but not so bad. Wear thick sandals or flipflops, my sand shoe got some holes due to the rocks. Very informative and was surprised on the richness and diversity of the fish and how clear the water is. We saw barracuda, puffer fish, butterfly fish, among others and that was just in the mangrove. The bat cave is of course full of bats and there was a 10-foot python resting on the side. We had a light snack then proceeded to snorkel with all gears provided. Our guide had us hold to swimming floaters (salbabida) so he can take us to the good areas. We saw giant clams, lots of colorful fish and coral reef. There were sea turtles but not in the area where we went. It started to rain so we proceeded home. There are simple accommodations on the island which is great if you want to explore more. There are lagoons good for kayaking and more snorkel and diving spots. Next time we will go in summer or late in the year to avoid the rains and perhaps, see the turtles. Over-all, our short exploration was worth it (we paid 1,600 pesos) and was happy to support and enjoy the conservation efforts being done on the island.
