Fitzroy Island National Park的点评
点评：Lessons we learned:
The ferry prices vary greatly, depending on who you're booking with. We saw anything from $79 to $129 for the 8:30AM to 4:00PM single adult return trip.
Photos from a distance may mislead you into thinking there are soft, sandy beaches. They're not. They're mostly broken off coral pieces. Quite a challenge for bare feet.
The path to Nudie beach requires navigating large bolders and rough steps made up by bnatural stones. Fine if you're young abd fit, but quiet a slippery challenge for older legs and knees. Take proper shoes with you.
This is not a secluded island. Half a dozen daily ferries bring lots of tourists. Expect the nice spots to crawl with people, especially on weekends.
As a day visitor you're not permitted to use the facilities of the resort. No nice restaurant, bar, pool, or decent bathrooms.
Instead, there is a rather plain 'General Store' and then Foxy's bar/cafe/pub available for day trippers. Foxy's is a noisy place with often long queues for ordering food and drink.
We were 'entertained' by loud music, interrupted by staff shouting food pick up numbers every minute or three over a failing PA. Not a good place to enjoy the tropic serenity and a nice meal.
From the toilets to the seats and tables, everything seem last millenium.
Of course, the sea, the flora and fauna are beautiful.
But given our misunderstanding about the 'beaches', the sheer number of tourists crawling over each other, and the sad condition of the facilities. it wasn't a trip we'd do again anytime soon.
