Naturally beautiful but lacking maintensnce and thought
Fitzroy Island National Park的点评
点评：Beautiful Island to spend a day hiking, snorkelling or relaxing on the coral beach.
Disappointing to arrive at 8.45 am to find the cafe is not open for breakfast and the only option is the resort restaurant at $40/person.
Arriving by Fitzroy Flyer it is unwelcoming to be greeted by a sign that states its a private resort for hotel guests only. It took us sometime to discover we coukd get breakfast there.
The path to Nudey Beach is very uneven and not suitable for someone a little unsteady on their feet. The beach is small, steep but crystal clear water. Hard to believe it is considered to be one of the 50 best beaches in the world. We have seen plenty of better ones.
The walk to the summit is a good hike with spectacular views but the lighthouse detour was disappointing. The lighthouse is derelict and the information on the walls inside is inaccessible to the public.
The return walk via the campsite passed lots of derelict buildings, abandoned materials and debris. We could not get a coffee on our return as the bar no longer serves hot drinks after 2pm.
A pretty island, worth a day trip, but could be much nicer with a little thought and TLC
