Long boat ride for 5 minutes of puffin viewing

点评：Hugely disappointed in this “tour” - virtually no commentary or interaction from the guide over the entire duration of the trip.
The boat ride from the dock in Mobile Bay to Great Island was about 35-40 minutes. We spent literally 5 minutes at the island viewing the puffins. Then the boat turned around and headed back for the return journey (return was much faster as the wind was at our backs). It was only during the 5 minutes at the island that the guide provided limited information, she otherwise kept to herself during the rest of the “tour”. During the travel time to and from the island the guide should have been sharing information about the local wildlife rather than hiding out by herself at the front of the boat.
I don’t know if this short viewing time (5 minutes) at the island is normal. The ride to the island was pretty choppy and slow due to headwinds, but once we were in the shelter of the island the water was pretty calm and in my opinion we could have stayed longer. When we started the return journey I actually thought we were moving to a new viewing point because we had been viewing for such a short period of time.
I see there are lots of good reviews by others and I’m glad others had a good tour. This was definitely not my experience and there’s lots of room for improvement. Hopefully Molly Bawn reads this review and makes some adjustments to how they run their tours.
