点评:I had high expectations - I have loved Chagall's work, especially his stained glass windows, for decades. But the church exceeded my expectations. It was a gloriously sunny day - and as I entered the church the main window (above age altar) seemed to fill the space with its glorious tones of blue, with red and yellow highlights. And each of the Chagall windows is well worth spending time with.
Most of them are primarily in blues, but there are two wonderful yellow-toned ones on either side of the south entrance door.
There is a lot of useful information in the church, including a "family album" of the church near the book and postcard counter.
There is a very informative YouTube video by Patricia Dunkin Wedd about the backround to the windows - about the young woman whose death is commemorated in the window, why her family wanted Chagall to make the window, and why Chagall ended up making windows for the whole of the main church. It's a lengthy video, but I found it gave me invaluable insights before my visit.
The church needs help to continue looking after these masterpieces, so do be generous with your donations.
Its also worth exploring the churchyard and seeing the church from the outside. When I visited (March) the car park had a spectacular bank of yellow winter aconites, and there were more aconites, wood anemones and daffodils scattered among the graves.
