点评:Such a unique historic house worth a visit. We only stopped to have a coffee and ended up touring with Cyril Cullen, the legendary fashion designer who with his late wife, has owned this place for decades. The history is interesting but it’s Mr. Cullen who is in his early 90’s, who provides the story of his life here illustrated by momentos, art and stories of his wife and four girls who made this place a home for many years. Cullen is fascinating and articulate as he walked us from room to room. The ground floor is a showroom of his very sweet porcelain figures which are made on site. His woolen sweaters are legendary and have been since the 60’s when they were sold as high fashion at Bergdorfs. The castle itself has a rich history, and is very ‘lived in’ with its share of wear and tear. It all defies description, but we left feeling like we had experienced a very personal visit with a little piece of living Irish history.
