点评:Cantwell Cliffs is marked moderate by some websites and certainly takes some skill to navigate. For context, we are in our early 30’s and hike a few times a year in parks like this, staying relatively active the rest of the year. The geological formations are well worth the effort, but isn’t a good fit for young kids, dogs, or anyone who is unsteady on their feet. Much of the trail is made up of stone steps that were constructed by the CCC. These get VERY slippery with recent rain or even if the humidity levels are high. We saw a person who had fallen and was injured and heard about another the previous weekend that was unconscious and had to be taken to the hospital. If you attempt this trail, wear good shoes and take your time.
There are waterfalls and creeks throughout this park. Since we visited in August, there wasn’t much in the way of flowing water. However, we wondered if visiting in the spring might mean that it would be too difficult to navigate the stairs anyway. It was still cool to see the formations and see all of the work that the CCC did within this area. It took us about 45 minutes to do the trail, including the longer offshoot.
