Beautiful castle full of history and charm

点评：Schloss Braunfels (Braunfels Castle) has been a special place for me ever since elementary school, when I first visited on a class excursion. Years later I didn’t remember much other than how much I'd enjoyed the castle back then. Having moved away from Hesse, I’ve made an effort to return and explore the region, and Schloss Braunfels again was at the top of my list.
In recent years, I’ve toured the castle three more times, with a different guide each time. Each of the guides was engaging, sharing fascinating facts about the castle and keeping the group interested throughout the tour. The castle itself is gorgeous, full of history, and well-preserved, making it a pleasure to explore.
I also highly recommend visiting the café and souvenir shop, as well as taking a stroll through the castle garden. One highlight therr is the Friendship Tree, planted by the mayor of Braunfels, Germany, and the mayor of New Braunfels, Texas, USA. It was fun to learn that New Braunfels was named after this very German town, thanks to Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels and the Society for the Protection of German Immigrants in Texas back in 1845.
Whether you’re a fan of castles, a history buff, or just looking for a lovely spot to spend a day, Schloss Braunfels is definitely worth a visit. Every visit feels fresh, adds something new, and I can’t wait to return again.
