Sensational afternoon for the whisky enthusiast.

点评：We booked the Whisky Walk for 11:30am Saturday and ended up being the only ones there, so we essentially got a private tour with Emma, who seemed every bit as enthusiastic about whisky as us. We were made to feel very welcome and valued guests.
Highly recommend the upgrade that gets you a taste of a 19yo cask at the end. It's definitely a special drop and not available for tasting out in the bar.
The restaurant was equally excellent. I had the brisket - the sauce is to die for. The missus got the tasting platter, which had a smaller portion of the brisket with arancini balls and potatoes cooked in a way that will never earn them a spot on a weight watchers menu. She arguably chose better, but I'm not complaining (because I bogarted an arancini ball and half a spud). Delicious. Good portion sizes that left just enough room for dessert.
The creme brulee is a sleeper. They have a tendency of being a bit ho-hum IMO, but this one was stunning. The scoop of ice cream and crunch of candied nuts on top put it over the top.
I opted for the 20yo Oloroso de Jerez to round things out, which cost a little more than I'd be happy paying in my local, whisky bar, but set in the context of the view over the mountains and the amazing meal, it didn't hurt quite so much.
We were also fortune enough to meet the distiller Fiona - creator of perhaps my favourite dram (Dark Harmony 2) - and shown through the bond store. It was a treat to get a look behind the scenes at the fabulous and unique business they are building.
Overall, the staff at Hellyers made our silver wedding anniversary a special treat that we will be keen to repeat in coming years.
If you enjoy whisky, or you aspire to become the kind of person who enjoys whisky, Hellyers Road is an afternoon you won't soon forget.
