My first and last visit - it was so unwelcoming

点评：As I was in the area and passing right by the place, I thought I would call in. There were plenty of volunteers about, but the only one of them who actually spoke to me was the lady who accosted me as I walked in and asked if I had visited before. When I said no, she handed me a piece of A5 size paper!
The person in the shop didn't say a word to me as I walked in and walked round looking at the items for sale. None of the volunteers on the platform even acknowledged me, let along spoke to me to welcome me or explain anything. As it was around lunchtime and the buffet car was open I thought I might have a bite to eat. but the buffet car was unstaffed and a volunteer who watched me walk in... ...and out again empty handed, didn't say a word to me, or even advise one of his colleagues that they had a potential customer.
This is a great pity, because some of the exhibits are unique and very interesting. All such places need visitors' money to develop and improve, but surely you need to make some effort if you expect visitors to put their hands in their pockets!
I am a volunteer and a director at a heritage railway elsewhere in the country, where our visitors comment on the warm welcome that they receive from all our volunteers, and the number of returning visitors we have is a glowing testament to that! We pride ourselves on being so welcoming, but by contrast, this "attraction" couldn't care less!
