点评：My partner and I booked the Afternoon Tea on the Steam Train experience with Caledonian Travel, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing travel experiences we have had.
The steam train itself was lovely and the scenery was enjoyable. However, the catering side of the experience was extremely poor. We are both vegetarians and clearly stated our dietary requirements when making the booking, yet no vegetarian afternoon tea had been prepared for us.
Instead, the catering staff took food from the guests seated next to us and assembled a plate for us while we watched. Not only was this embarrassing and uncomfortable, but the portions were also very limited. We paid for the full afternoon tea experience and expected our dietary requirements to have been catered for in advance, not to be given food taken from another table.
To make matters worse, basic vegetarian food-handling practices were not followed, with vegetarian items placed alongside ham. This demonstrated a lack of care and understanding regarding dietary requirements.
When we raised our concerns afterwards, we were offered a complimentary steam train trip. As we had already experienced the train journey, this did not address the issue, which was the poor catering and embarrassment caused. We requested a 50% refund to reflect the substandard food service but received no response.
