点评：We had the most incredible experience on this tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to Chris, who was knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely passionate about sharing the real soul of Western Crete.
Our first stop was a traditional distillery, where Chris walked us through the world of tsikoudia with the kind of storytelling that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into local history rather than just a tasting. We tried tsikoudia, rakomelo, honey, olive oil and some gorgeous herb‑infused liqueurs – a proper Cretan welcome.
From there, Chris led us up to the cave‑church of Saint John the Hermit in Marathokefala. Stepping inside felt like entering another time entirely. The views over the olive groves rolling down to the sea were breathtaking, and Chris brought the legends and traditions of the place to life.
The final stop was Vouves and its world‑famous Ancient Olive Tree – over 3,000 years old and still bearing fruit. Standing beside something that ancient was honestly humbling. Chris shared stories about its role in Cretan culture and even the Olympic victory wreaths made from its branches. We finished with a relaxing drink in the village, the perfect end to the afternoon.
