Trainwreck tour of castle. Mediocre displays.

点评：After visiting Charlottenburg and Potsdam and multiple other castles, this one looked pretty but plain from the outside in a nice location along the river. Oranienburg is a picturesque little town, easy to reach from Berlin. The castle is split into 2 sections, one more of a small kids museum from the Stone Age to DDR times, the other is the Castle which you can only tour with a guide. Our tour guide was monotonous, lecturing in no particular order, rambling facts, lengthy and so boring that the 12 people on the tour started fidgeting, eyes glazed over, it was hard to listen him drone on about details on paintings that had little to no context or relevance to the castle. It was frankly the worst mess I have ever experienced and I love history and castles and even read art history books. There was not much to see inside and no restorations have taken place to give you a feel on what it looked like . We weren't told anything about the building, architecture, time period, context, who lived here when and how and why. We asked to leave after 1 hr and 10 minutes of waffle, as we could no longer listen. It was dreaful. 8 Euro entry fee and the worst castle visit in all of Germany. Period. Go at your own peril or may be you get a different guide. Not worth coming all the way here just to see it. The entry fee to the Gardens is separate.
