Outstanding - if you like WW2 aviation heritage you shouldn't miss it
Davidstow Moor RAF Memorial Museum的点评
点评:David and his wife are amazing hosts. This is a memorial museum and it is all too evident that putting it together and presenting it has been a labour of love over many years. Entrance is free but donations are welcome. The exhibits and the stories they tell are fascinating, but also compelling. Although there are some amazing exhibits, including a huge collection of artefacts from the numerous aircraft that crashed on and around Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor in WW2. But this is primarily about commemorating the men and women who served at Davidstow during the war. As well as being a staging point for some of the US VIIIth Air Force's first attacks on U-Boat installations in France, it was primarily used by Coastal Command squadrons conducting reconnaissance and strike missions over the Bay of Biscay and out into the Atlantic. The museum tells some of their stories. Museums like this are becoming a rarity - I only had an hour and a half but could have spent twice that looking around. It is tardis-like and much, much bigger than it initially seems. If you're interested in Cornwall's aviation heritage this is a must.
