点评:This imposing monument was built in 1982 to commemorate all Algerians who lost their lives in the war of independence. Situated in a position that offers a perfect view of the port area of Algiers, this monument is only visible from below (there is no access to the platform) and cannot be walked around because a sector on the seaside is closed to pedestrian traffic. Going down the right side of the monument you enter the museum for which you have to pay a ticket. Very popular with school groups, this museum, where you are not allowed to take photos, begins with a room with the portraits of all the presidents of Algeria, and then continues in a limited area where the French conquest of the country is represented. The rest of this large museum is dedicated to the long war of independence from France, which includes all the protagonists of this struggle and the crudest aspects of the French attempt to repress it.
