Charleston Lake Provincial Park的点评
点评：We were a party of 6 - 40 yr old women for an annual girl’s camping trip. We were unlawfully removed from the park. On our first night we received a visit from park staff at 11pm that were doing rounds. They had received no complaints but asked the (mid volume) music be completely turned off, for which we complied. The following day at 3pm on the beach, we were accosted by 3 OPP officers and 2 park wardens and were evicted in front of 80-100 other beach goers, humiliating all of us in the process. Apparently they had received complaints from our site of noise at 4am. This was false and well past the time we were all in bed. When we asked why they hadn’t visited us at 8am that morning at our site, they had no answer. When we asked why we didn’t get any official warning before being evicted, Park Warden Kaya Leblanc replied, “We don’t have to give you any warnings to be able to evict you”.
There are a lot of things learned during this experience about Charleston:
1) The Park Wardens are grossly underage and thus, under qualified to have a position to wield this much power
2) If your children or husband do not accompany you to this park, you are liable to be evicted and humiliated because you are a childless female
3) You will be faced with sarcasm and taunting as they are ruining your weekend with Police standing by them, and over you, in front of as many people as they want. Making you feel intimidated and unsafe. Also making you wonder, why not usher the permit holder off to the side of the beach? Instead of making a spectacle of us? That’s Charleston.
This was an absolute nightmare that left us all in tears. I’m still waiting to hear back from the Superintendent Kyle, whom when called, park staff couldn’t provide the last name of nor the other Park Warden that belittled and bullied us. Talk about disorganization amongst a body of authority that has the powers that be.
