点评:This is an exceptional day trip on a clear and sunny day as not only is there the walk up to the observatory itself on a lava rock staircase, there is also a very easy paved pathway that goes in a loop trail away from the observatory and back. One of the best parts of that trail was a pathway that led DOWN into the lava rock formations somewhat and it was GREAT! It winds back up and around to connect with the main trail that returns to the parking area and observatory. They have labeled all of the "windows" of the observatory "building" with which mountain/mountains you can see from each of the vantage points. You can pretty much see every mountain in the area either from inside or up standing on the outside viewing area. The road getting up to Dee Wright has been recently repaved and is so much nicer to drive on, but just be aware that not every vehicle can make it as the road gets VERY narrow near the upper areas. Not sure some wider vehicles could make it such as trucks and wide RV's. Take water and a hat, and some sunscreen, and it will be so much fun!!
