点评:Visited today. Easy to find in pretty countryside near A38.
Very friendly volunteers on reception.
Interesting displays inside, with lots of artefacts and pictures and personal stories of soldiers over the history of the regiment.
Outside there were some armoured vehicles on display and a WW1 trench reconstruction with several recorded explanations of the different areas of the trench system, and aspects of trench warfare, and a short slide show of actual photos taken in WW1.
There was a memorial walk, and a play park for the children.
An Anderson shelter, WVS canteen van, Dig for Victory garden and unexplored bomb showed some aspects of the home front, with an air raid shelter with sound effects completed the outside exhibits.
There was a school party visiting at the same time we were, they were all well behaved and seemed to be having a good time on their visit.
Would recommend for any one with any interest in local and/or military history.
We took about two hours to visit.
