点评:Full disclosure, I have no idea about the history of the Battery... I'm here to review the little cafe that runs on a weekend during the summer months.
Absolutely delightful. You can get a drink and a piece of cake - made by volunteers - for a reasonable price, and that money goes towards the upkeep of the Battery itself. The cafe is run by volunteers who are friendly and love to chat. Dogs are fine in the outdoor seating area. Food available depends on what the volunteers have made. I can recommend Ann's carrot cake, there's often a good sticky toffee cake job and someone makes a delicious rice pudding from an original war time recipe - a real treat.
It's weird when events are on (and the new cafes that have opened at the mermaid car park), that people overlook this place. They don't mark up the drinks and snacks - you will pay a premium if buying from the other food and drink vendors. They need money to keep the Battery going, so please pop by and support a local charity, make some new friends and have some homemade cake!
