点评:This is an excellent museum focussing on the social history of the area.
Starting with the Stone Age, the museum has some stunning exhibits and is quite academic in nature. Interpretation boards are in Norwegian and English, although the exhibits themselves are described in just the former. My only criticism is that was quite dark, making some of the detail difficult to discern, or hard to read.
Working upwards, the section on World War II is fascinating. The story of the Czech slave labourers shows a polar contrast with the cruelty handed out to the Russians during the German occupation. The collective display of Russian death cards is particularly sobering.
Take time to visit the medieval farm, worth while in its own right. And if you have time, explore the immediate area: the memorial to HMS Glorious; the church; the memorial to the Russian slave labourers and the evidence of their camp.
And of course with such a fine museum, a high quality gift shop and a very good cafe.
Highly recommended to learn about thus beautiful and historic corner of Norway
