Beware of False Assurances from the Owner and Disappointing Customer Service

点评：We visited a charming ceramics shop in Ravello in May 2023 and bought a set of eight beautiful green plates for everyday use. The owner, Pascal, personally helped us and was incredibly warm and welcoming. He even did a demo showing how sturdy the plates were and told us they were dishwasher safe. He assured us — and I quote — “Do not even worry. Of course they are dishwasher safe, and if anything were to happen anytime, email us and we will send you new ones right away.”
We were initially on the fence about the purchase, but the owner’s personal promise — that any issues would be taken care of without hesitation — is what ultimately convinced us to go ahead.
Unfortunately, three of the plates chipped within the first year under normal use. When I contacted the store as instructed, I was told I must have misunderstood and that they only replace plates broken during shipping. It was disappointing to hear that, especially after such a clear promise from the owner himself.
The plates arrived quickly and looked stunning — I wish the follow-up service matched the experience we had in person. What felt like a heartfelt assurance at the time now seems more like a sales tactic used to close the deal. It’s extremely disappointing to realize that what we believed was a genuine gesture from the owner was, in fact, an empty promise. We expected more honesty and integrity, especially from a small artisanal business.
