点评:This stave church was a peek back into time and I enjoyed seeing the architecture, graveyard, and listening to the commentary of the speaker inside the church. I will say that anyone who has mobility problems beware as walking surfaces of the church are non existent.
The steps leading up to the door are uneven and one must step over a beam in doorways and to enter each pew. The pews are what we would consider uncomfortable in this day and time. The alter is lovely with an early Gothic style crucifix. We were also told that meaning of ship hanging in church - "In many churches across Scandinavia, including stave churches like Rodven, you'll often see miniature ship models hanging from the ceiling. These are not merely decorative objects; they carry deep symbolic and historical meaning, reflecting the close relationship between the Nordic people and the sea." The red church seen in the background of the photo was built by the community and the church that is commonly used nowadays.
