点评:Out of courtesy, I emailed to advise a group of 20 people (10 cars from as far as Devon) would be visiting around 3.30 on a Wednesday. The response I received was NOT what I expected.
"Sadly we are not accepting groups", "reduced carpark size", "stop accepting visitors at 4.00pm", "Unpresidented visitor numbers", "overloading facilities and volunteers" etc etc.
I visited the site (well worth a visit) at 3.15 on the Wedesday before our planned visit to find less than 10 cars on a carpark (capable of takng around 75 or more). There were around 10 volunteers and only 2 other visitors. Chatting to a few volunteers ( one travelled over 50 miles fom Cambridge) they advised it was normally quiet at this time of day.
Whilst I was there I spoke to the Chair of the Trustees ( I am sure he will respond to this) hoping the personal touch would alter their decision. He would not be drawn on what number constitutes "a Group", simply saying we cannot set a precedence!
Such a shame, Clearly a great miss for us, but I have to question the business model. It is clearly not finance driven.
The moral of the story, dont email them - just turn up!!!
