Enjoyable volcanic crater to visit north of Selfoss

点评：This is a ancient volcanic crater that you can visit north of Selfoss. It is north of the Ring Road on Rt 35 and informally part of the Golden Circle. We spent around half at the crater, finding it a worthy stop to make if taking in natural attractions around the Golden Circle for a couple of days. Note the flies here were quite bad during our visit.
Parking is free at Kerid Crater but there is a 600kr entry free for each visitor. What you find is a walking trail around the rim of the 6500 year old volcano as well as take a short trek down nearly 50-metres into the crater if you want to walk around the clear lake that fills in the crater centre. What makes Kerid quite interesting is the dark red and rust colour lava fragments. Makes for interesting views and photographs.
