点评:My wife and I have been coming to Ithaca for more than 10 years and over that time we have seen the normal evolution of tourism and developments. But overall, the island has maintained it’s character, slowly improved its features and we are impressed by how the local town hall is now clearly putting an emphasis on keeping the island clean with daily bin emptying and general cleaning & rubbish collection on the streets. This is also visible at the well run beaches of Caminia and Polis where the operators keep the sunloungers measured in numbers and everything spotless.
Sadly however, Filiatro beach has gone in exactly the opposite direction with filthy and old sunloungers strewn out all over the beach, bottles and rubbish left on the beach overnight and it just feels like the operator has no respect for the area or island. The prices however have increased and are well above the cleaner and better alternatives. And this is our observation in June - we hate to think what it’ll be like in July and August.
So shame on the operator and shame on the Town Hall for turning a blind eye to what is happening here - one has to wonder whether there is some local influence or personal connection being used to get away with this abuse of an island treasure!
