Tarawera Falls的点评
点评：Truly spectacular! Well worth the effort of the trip getting here.
As we were on our way over to Ohope and had a bit of time to spare, but we came because a friend had visited it over summer and highly recommended it. A prior permit is required as the falls are located on private forestry land.
These falls are only viewable during weekends and public holidays. Plan time and dates accordingly.
1. Go to Kawerau Visitor Information office (Kawerau isite), buy a permit ($10 per vehicle). It is not at all possible to access it any other way.
2. Travel to the falls is virtually all on gravel (unsealed) roads. Available information says it takes 35 - 40 mins but it took us about 55 mins to arrive at the falls carpark. Parts of the road are quite gnarly with lots of scree and uneveness so worth taking it very, very slowly. Display permit on dashboard.
3: The mostly flat (with some undulation) beautiful bush track walk takes about 20 mins to reach the falls. Along the way are some very, very large rocks for photo ops and there are a couple of accessible banks to have a dip in the crystal clear river water.
4. The 65 metre falls have huge volumes of water gushing out of a rock fissure at the top. It is an awesome sight. We did not go past the falls but there is a loop track 25 mins) and a 2 hour walk to Lake Tarawera.
5. There are signage to keep you mostly on track driving in but in parts the signs became few and far between. Kawerau could increase the permit fee and use funds to improve roads, signage and access.

5：驾车进入时，大部分路段都有路标指引方向，但有些路段路标稀少且间隔较远。卡韦劳可以考虑提高许可证费用，并将资金用于改善道路、路标和通行条件。
