点评:This is one big chunk of a building, interestingly with WWII bomb damage (May 1944) left untouched. Its austere and prison like but has much (maybe too much) to see inside. The day we tried to visit it was inexplicably closed despite being scheduled to be open and people sat behind the ticket desk. We later found out that because the previous day had been Republic Day and it was closed, they decided to add another closed day without any notices. Fortunately we were able to visit the next day.
The two main sites worth seeing are the Farnese Theatre (with an excellent animation presentation projected onto the stage) and the Palatine Library, both jaw dropping. The remaining spaces are filled with primarily religious art work (some paintings by noted 15/16c artists) and an archaeological museum both of which you need to have a subject interest in otherwise its a bit of a slog to get around.
Being retired from the architectural profession, I was interested to find out that the external spaces around the palace were created by the noted Swiss architect Mario Botta over 25 years ago. They were quite underwhelming.
