点评:We stopped by when I realized that this was the setting for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That was enough for a stop, but we discovered sooo much more. We were greeted by a group of very friendly volunteers. One was the daughter of the former head Psychiatrist of the facility when they filmed the movie. (He also played the doctor in the movie). She offered a quick overview of the hospital (And gave us the option too refuse if we just wanted to check out the exhibits). She also mentioned she was a retired doctor from the hospital and shared stories of growing up there as a child. It was sooo fascinating, I could have listened for hours. The museum had medical instruments, stories of the staff and patients. There is also an exhibit about the movie (with some props). She walked us outside to show us the building that housed the copper containers that used to hold the cremains of unclaimed patients. I had seen photos of the memorial before, its very thoughtful. Since the containers reacted with the cremains of the patients, they are now housed in the wall surrounding the building. It's definitely worth stopping to see.
