点评:One of Seremban's most historic and landmark building is this graceful Neo-Gothic Roman Catholic parish. It was established in 1848 making it the oldest parish in Seremban. Unlike the Wesley Methodist Church which was built in Seremban in 1920 by English Protestant missionaries, this Church of the Visitation was established by French missionaries arriving from Malacca in the late 1840s.
I remember my sister in-law brought us here about 3 decades ago and the parish has etched in my mind as the icon of Seremban. But my wife has little impression of this church. This time we happened to by-past this church at night after an evening walk around the town and the church looks impressive with her light on under the dark sky. But we did not gain entry into the compound as the gate was locked.
The following morning while strolling my way to Taman Tasik, I noticed the church door was wide opened and a morning mass was on-going. I managed to have a glimpse of the church interior and found the architectural design unique and beautiful. When I came back an hour later, the church was again locked.
An iconic landmark in Seremban which reminds visitors of the colonial history of this town and should not be missed.
