点评：And enthusiastic mature audience gathered at the Hawth on Sunday16th August for the Barry White tribute show featuring American vocalist William Hicks, backed by his live band Soul Unlimited and supported by the Motown Supreme Dreamgirls. Before the show started there was an enormous queue at the bar. Perhaps they didn't realise the old folks like a drink! The Dreamgirls launched the show with some Motown covers (Heatwave and Stop in the Name of Love) which got everyone going. Then came William, suitably large with a growling deep voice and he did not disappoint, getting the audience on their feet with some soul clapping. After the interval the Dreamgirls did some disco covers and their version of Valerie (Amy Whitehouse). I would like to have heard Walkin' In The Rain With the One I Love, instead. William finished the second half in fine form with all the favourites. Experience marred slightly by an offensive drunk middle aged woman in white outfit with cropped hair who stood up and waved to a mate at the front and then staggered across a whole row of patrons to get to greet her while the show was on, ho hum. Nice night, but I wonder if we can get more ambition from the Hawth? Soul musical groups are crying out for places to play and the Hawth is a good size. The Soulutions, Durrand Jones, Cornell CC Carter and many out there would relish the opportunity to play here, but are crowded out by the endless tribute shows.
