Fantastic experience at the Darling Downs Zoo

点评：We had a great time at the Darling Downs Zoo today. There were a lot more animals that I expected for a small zoo, and all of them appeared to be well looked after. There was helpful signage at each of the exhibits displaying more information about the animals.
We paid extra for the Big Cat Encounter, which was worth every cent. The zookeeper who coordinated the encounter knew a lot about the animals that she cared for, and took time to answer all of our questions.
We had the opportunity to feed both a leopard and a lion, which was terrific. It was very safe, as the meat was placed on extra long BBQ tongs which we then delivered to the big cats through a mesh fence. It was breathtaking and a privilege to be so close to these majestic animals.
I loved how that the zookeeper encouraged, but did not force, the animals to come to us. The tiger was shy and didn't want to come closer, but we were still very close to her and that was a fantastic experience in itself.
In terms of amenities, the toilets were very clean and there were so many picnic areas for families to rest. There was also a BBQ near the gift shop, and the gift shop itself sells a nice coffee and hot food like sausage rolls and pies. The food and drinks were reasonably priced, not like some of the other zoos that I have been to.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Darling Downs Zoo.
