Excellent (free!) overview of US monetary policy and how it has affected our history
Chicago Fed's Money Museum的点评
点评:This Money Museum inside the Chicago's Federal Reserve Bank headquarters provides an excellent (free!) overview of US monetary policy and how it has affected our history. The compact Museum covers how different types of money have been printed going back to colonial days, and how the Federal Reserve Bank (and branches such as Chicago's) gradually took over the responsibility for distributing the currency. If you've ever wondered how the Federal Reserve Bank works, this Museum will tell you.
There are also extensive displays of what paper currency has looked like over the years. I was surprised by all the different types that were printed by states and eventually the Fed, such as for use by servicemen overseas. Some interactive displays will appeal to children.
The highlight may be the (thick) plexiglass enclosure holding a million ($1,000,000) of currency in different denominations. With $100 bills, the million fits in a briefcase. With $1 bills, an enormous photogenic cube is needed to hold it all. A chance to be see with a million bucks!
