点评:The church itself was lovely. Small, but with details that clearly whisper “I’ve been here longer than most empires".
The museum entry fee, was a spiritual experience of its own.
In Turkey it’s no secret that some merchants have a little two-tier system: locals pay one price, tourists pay another, and if you haggle hard enough, everyone walks away feeling like they got a good deal.
But at St. Nicholas Museum? No subtlety, no negotiation, no festive cheer.
Just straight-up scripture: Locals—100 TL. Tourists—€17 (around 800 TL). Amen. For that money you’d think we’d get at least an audio guide. But no—silence. When we asked about the holy discrepancy, the answer was short and biblical: “If you’re not a Turkish citizen, you pay more.”
So yes, the church was beautiful… but the real miracle here is how quickly €17 disappeared from my wallet.
