Lovely place for a quiet stroll and a tranquil place to sit and relax
South Cliff Italian Gardens的点评
点评：My wife and I were driving fromYork up to Bamburgh stopping at a few places along the way. The Italian Gardens was our first stop. It was a lovely day, perfect opportunity to get out and stretch our legs.
We parked up on the Esplanade, had no problem finding a spot. It was a weekday early September and there was even an ice cream van parked by the clock tower.
We strolled for about an hour, up and down the narrow paths, in and out of the woods. All the while magnificent views of the ocean and across the bay into Scarborough.
The Gardens proper were lovely, well maintained, even though it was the end of the season the flowers still had some life in them. Very tranquil.
If you so desired, and didn't mind the hike back up the cliffs, you could take the paths all the way down to the beach. I believe there is a trolley lift that goes up from the clifftop to the beach, but we didn't try it. It might be seasonal.
Overall, a great start to our epic road trip and well worth a visit if you are anywhere near the area.
