点评：We very much enjoyed our visit to the turtle protection centre and shown around by Shantha who was clearly passionate about his work with the turtles and had been doing it for decades! They have an area where they hatch the turtles and keep them for a short length of time before releasing them into the ocean. By doing this he said the survival chances for the baby’s are much higher. He also looks after disabled turtles which wouldn’t survive in the wild. He has help to run the sanctuary from volunteers who come from all over the world and stay for days, weeks or even months. He charges an entry fee and asks for donations as he needs the money to help look after the turtles.
We loved meeting the turtles and got to hold some of the smaller ones and Shantha helped show how to do so without hurting them. A very enjoyable visit.
