English speaker totally ignored by guide

点评：I was looking forward to going into a coal mine, having done the salt mines and many other caves in Europe. As a cave guide in the UK I have an interest in any type of hole in the ground.
Unfortunately I was the only English person on the tour I booked. I realised this before we went underground and made the guide aware. Despite this, for the entire 2 hours of the tour, he did not try to engage me in the tour. He did not speak English to me at all, even when giving safety instructions, so I spent the whole time unaware of any information and learnt nothing about the mine.
When I booked the tour online there was no option to choose an English speaking guide/tour so I was unaware of the situation until we were about to descend.
Whilst it was interesting see the mine environment and the conditions the miners worked in underground I’m afraid that the guides’ lack of effort to involve me has made this a disappointing experience.
PS. The bar at the end was a novelty worth exploring.
