The Best Pub In Waterloo.
The Volunteer Canteen的点评
点评：In my humble opinion one of the best pub's in this area of the city is a pub that's called the Volunteer Canteen.It's located on East street and is a gem of a pub.It offers a very good range of cask ales and on our visit to here it was very busy.
Its housed in a building that dates from the 1820's and started off as a terraced house before being converted into a pub in 1871.It was known as the Canteen Vaults for many years before it changed its name in 1913 to the Volunteer Canteen.
In 1924 Higsons brewery gave this excellent pub a major renovation and it hasn't really altered that much in all them years.It has a superb old world interior with local fixtures and features and excellent seating options and is a designated grade-II listed building which is a very high accolade.
What a fantastic pub and a pub we should visit more often as it's that good.We visited here mid-afternoon and even at this time it was very busy.We only stayed for one beer as we where on a bit of a pub crawl.On our visit to here we had a few glasses of Ossett brewery pale ales which where superb and where reasonably well priced.
The Volunteer Canteen is an excellent pub and a pub that's well worth going to if your ever around this area of the city.(This is my first review of the Volunteer Canteen).
