Carter Caves State Resort Park的点评
点评：We did a day trip to the park. This is a very nice state park in Eastern Kentucky.
All Kentucky State Parks have free admission (2025).
We wanted to camp there, but they're redoing the campground this summer.
Start your day at the Welcome Center. This is where you buy your tickets for the cave tours. They also have a gift shop & restrooms.
There's 5 tours, but there's only 3 that do daily tours.
X cave starts at the Welcome Center.
Saltpeter starts at the Welcome Center.
Cascade cave is 3.6 miles from the Welcome Center & you have to drive there.
I was interested in the Cascade Cave, but my husband is mobility impaired & he can't climb 250 stairs.
From the Welcome Center be sure & do the Natural Bridge Trail. it's only 1 mile there & back & totally worth it! The bridge is great - very scenic.
I saw that this trail is accessible & I have to say - it's not! He made it to the bridge only with a lot of help from me. There's stone stairs.
The 3 bridges trail is very popular for hikers, but the trail is on the high end of moderate. I was able to do part of it, but ended up at the lodge overheated.
Thank you to the conservation officer who took me back to the Welcome Center!
There's a total of 5 bridges in the main park & 1 bridge at the Cascade area.
I wish I had more time to do more hiking in cooler weather!
