点评:My husband and I came to visit Beaufort from out of town, and decided to walk this trail. It was around 10:00 am on Sunday, February 18, and it was quite chilly and windy. There were several people walking dogs plus several women jogging alone.
As we were walking past Mile 6, thinking we were alone, suddenly a man came onto the trail unexpectedly from the grasses next to the paved trail, and begin walking toward us. We hadn’t seen him on the trail and surmised that he had been hiding somewhere, only to appear in front of us.
He wore a hoodie and large glasses and I could feel and see him staring at me as we walked past him, which gave me an uneasy feeling, almost like he was casing me to see if I had any valuables. I did not have a purse with me and had my hands in my pockets due to the cold so no jewelry was seen.
We decided to turn around and walk back to the car, which caused us to walk by him again. He didn’t make eye contact this time.
As we looked back, we saw that he had left the trail and was no longer visible, which makes me believe he went back into the grasses.
I am writing this because it is important that the women who are jogging alone remain alert and cognizant of their surroundings. Even though you think you may be safe in the daytime, this may not always be the case.
