One of the best sites to see lynx, but carefully pick your dates and visit private estates for best views

点评：Spent three days in the park looking at the wonderful birds and wildlife and especially the lynx. Its a strange nature reserve as much of the land you have no access to as its mainly private shooting reserves that are all fenced off. This means unless you go with a guide that has access to these estates you have to spend most of your time driving up and down the two roads : the La Lancha road which goes down to the dam or the road that goes down to the river. Our first day was with a guide Daniel at Naturoots who we highly recommend. The road is very narrow in parts and in really bad condition, huge potholes that have you swerving all over the road. We went in February coming to to end of the main lynx watching season.. However there were still a lot of people there and even when you see a lynx, you are surrounded by lots of other people and their cameras. The views across the valleys are stunning though and we saw so many imperial eagles , golden eagles , little owls and fallow and red deer, Highly recommend that you take a guided tour that takes you on a private reserve where you get to watch these beautiful creatures on your own. On our first day we saw 3 lynx: one on the public road and two on an estate. Second day we again travelled down this road no lynx sightings ( but apparantly missed a lynx crossing a road by minutes.) We drove all the way down to the dam where we spotted ibex whilst we were exploring the abandoned La Lancha village. Next day we went down to the river to look for otters ( unsuccessful) but we had a lovely walk along the river and sat on the rocks in the sunshine enjoying the peace and quiet before driving up to the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary. Would go again maybe for a weekend and book to go both days with a guide to get the best chance of seeing a lynx, and book for Dec/Jan the best time to see the males out and about looking for the females
