点评:Had a couple of hours to spare in the area , the weather was wintry so this looked ideal to visit. We were not disappointed. Started in the cafe with tea and tea cakes served by friendly staff. We then moved into the museum, lower floor was based on local history which was interesting to us as we don’t know the area. We particularly enjoyed taking a seat and learning about the house from one of its previous residents ( audio visual presentation). One room was closed for renovations.
Upstairs is a beautifully laid out set of rooms built as a street including an iron mongers, doctors and pharmacy filled with typical items from the past. For such a small ( and free) museum we felt it was very well done. We also enjoyed the toy room where we spent time reminiscing and trying to spot some of our own old toys.
There is also a small shop within the cafe and what made me giggle were the toilets which were ‘labelled’ as if they were exhibits in the museum.
In front of the museum are some gardens, covered in snow, when we went , with some interesting statues to see.
Free parking is available.
A small museum yes, but we really enjoyed our visit
