Looks Great From Town/Train Station, a Bit Disappointing Inside
Fortress of Deva的点评
点评：I knew there was a fort in Deva before I arrived by train, but was quite impressed by the thing that you can see from the platform. Good thing it is there as there no sign at all visible from the train that you are actually in Deva, which is not an end of the line stop.
I stayed at Hostel Citadella (very good hostel), which is around the corner from the funicular. However the funicular has caution tape around the entrance and is no longer running. You can still hike up to thing though. You go up a heap of steep stairs in Deva's main park (a nice park with a few statues and a fountain) , dodging all the workout enthusiasts. Then you go right and follow a dirt path, then eventually goes left, then you end up at a wall with houses behind it but an awesome view. If you follow the wall along an even rougher grass/dirt track you eventually come out on a driveway just before the first guard tower of the fort. Then you can walk up to the thing. Probably takes around 30-40 minutes from the park.
Be careful as WH&S obviously isn't a big concern and many planks (the floor) are rotten or missing. You could easily go through one. You can go inside the fort itself but it's more like a movie set walls than an actual building anymore. Great 360 degree views of Deva from up there though.
You can get some good views/photos of the fort itself if you walk the pedestrian mall that starts at the end of the park.
