点评：The is a very unusual museum located in the Old City of Sharjah. It is the Al Mahatta Museum or the Old Airport Museum.
Today it is surrounded by many tall skyscrapers within the city of Sharjah.
When it was built in 1932, it was the first airport in the region. The museum is now very interesting as it contains many unique collectibles from the early aviation of the UAE and the region.
The original airport buildings were located in a fort-like structure, and would have the facilities for the Imperial Airline passengers whom were flying between Britain to India and on to Australia.
You start your tour in the airports original airports hanger. It contains eight old aircraft one being suspended from the ceiling. My favorite aircraft to view was the DC 3. It is one of the few airplanes that I never few on.
Above the floor you ascend to view two cross sections of two different aircraft. The first you can enter the fuselage of a 1962 VC10 and actually sit in the airplanes original seats. Just after this you can enter the front fuselage of a 1953 Comet and see the original cockpit and three seats, one for the: Pilot; then the co-pilot and just behind the seat for the Flight Engineer. Still within the cockpit were maps, head phones and other old objects used at that time.
The next sections of the old Airport have great exhibits showing the original flight of the first Imperial Airlines flight of a Hanno plane in 1932 to the landing on the moon!
I found that all of the exhibits were extremely interesting and unique. In my humble opinion you will need between two to three hours to really enjoy the full value of this fascinating Al Mahatta Museum.
