点评：First things first: the hike is easy and amazing. It is also way too expensive as a way (I guess) to minimize the number of hikers and, as of today, they don't allow doing it uphill and going back to MASCA; you need to pay extra for the boat to Los Gigantes (15 min). Second: I've read quite stupid things about Taxis not being available or being difficult to book/call. Nonsense; they were running all day every day during Xmas (maybe not that much exactly on Xmas day). You can't park in Masca for longer than 2 hrs even if you find a spot, which is unlikely, but a taxi from Santiago del Teide costs 15 € (20 min) and Los Gigantes to Santiago below 25€ (also 20 min). It's not like you need to take a 50 or 100-mile detour like I've read. Besides, there is a bus from Santiago to Masca, though it is small and fills easily. Parking in Santiago is the best option, even better than in Los Gigantes.
The hike itself can be done easily in about 2.5 hours with kids. Though your boat booking will be for a specific time, it's FIFO-based, and usually you will not need to wait long as the number of people allowed in the gorge is so low.
